The Spirit Glows. Jesus gives His Spirit to His people. Jesus promised that we would be given the power to receive the Holy Spirit and we would become His witness. This promise becomes reality. That’s the new story line. The Holy Spirit comes and the Church is born.

Spirit Glows
We find the evidence of this NEW story line of the promise of Jesus in Acts 2.
Acts 2:1-3
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[g] as the Spirit enabled them.
The day of Pentecost was extraordinary. People from different countries gathered and were in Jerusalem. This was the beginning of the early Church. They heard the disciples speaking the mighty works of God in their own languages. Peter explained to them what was happening. He connected the Prophecy of Joel:
Joel 2:28-29
And afterward,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see visions.
Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days.
Peter proclaimed Jesus whom you crucified, is both Lord and Messiah.
The people responded with: “What shall we do?”
To which:
Acts 2:38-39
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
3000 People were added to the Believers!
Acts 2:42-48
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
His Spirit came to empower us to BEAR WITNESS to Jesus. The WORD is SPREADING. – TO THE WORLD.
His Spirit is Glowing!
