Spiralling…
James 1:20 states, “For the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God,” meaning human anger is ineffective in achieving God’s righteousness.
Obviously writing is an outlet for me in processing my thoughts. Another place that I use to process my thoughts is music. Mostly it’s listening, but in more recent times, now I can play music as an outlet. I found a new favorite song as recently as this past Friday evening. And boy did I need this! Not only does the band go back to my roots, so do the lyrics. (I have seen Metallica live 5 times – about to be 6!) This song tells a story.
18 x 4
Metallica co-founder and frontman Hetfield said that “72 Seasons” was inspired by a book he read about childhood and learning how to process childhood events as an adult, with the title of the song reflecting the number of seasons one experiences during their first 18 years of life. “How do you evolve and grow and mature and develop your own ideas and identity of self after those first 72 seasons?” Hetfield reflected in a video interview (Click the link-the interview is stirring) about the song’s meaning. “Some things are more difficult than others. Some things you can’t unsee and they’re with you for the rest of your life, and other things you’re able to rewind the tape and make a new tape in your life. So that’s the real interesting part for me, is how you’re able to address those situations as an adult and mature sometimes.” (Reference Cillea Houghton November 2, 2023 American Song Writer)
72 Seasons
Feeding on the wrath of man
Shot down, traumatic
Time haunted by the past
Long gone, dogmatic
Although the die is cast
Shot down, volcanic
But what is gone is gone and done
Look back, psychotic
No chance before this life began
Staring into black light
Dominating birthright
Wrath of man
Leaching through, split in two
Wrath of man
Crash into point of view
Wrath of man
Violence, inheritance
Wrath of man
Thrive upon, feeding on
Seventy-two seasons gone
Feeding on the wrath of man
Shoot back, erratic
Mad seasons take their toll
New mask, chaotic
Completely lost control
Shoot back, fanatic
Wither under looming shadow cast
Slip back, narcotic
Blinded by the ashes of the past
Staring into black light
Choking on the stage fright
Wrath of man
Lеaching through, split in two
Wrath of man
Crash into point of view
Wrath of man
Violence, inhеritance
Wrath of man
Thrive upon, feeding on
Seventy-two seasons gone
Piercing through, cut in two
Polarize
Point of view crash into
Paralyze
Feeding on the wrath of man
Man down, barbaric
Quick fire machine gun thoughts
Deep seed, stigmatic
Some have and some have not
Man down, demonic
No mercy from the ghost within
Turn back, hypnotic
There’s breathing out, but not back in
Staring into black light
Permanently midnight
Wrath of man
Leaching through, split in two
Wrath of man
Crash into point of view
Wrath of man
Violence, inheritance
Wrath of man
Thrive upon, feeding on
Seventy-two seasons gone
Feeding on the wrath of man

What a work of God this post turned out to be…yep even Metallica. I never imagined Metallic and the Bible could be in the same sentence. If you think that is profound, did you know that 72 = 3? Look it up! I am so thrilled and overjoyed at how this post came out. And you know what? This was just what the Doctor ordered… Now I am happy.
Have a great day and will see you all on Tell It Tuesday!
