Today is the day.

Today is the day, my wife Grace and I celebrate 25 years of Marriage!

Today is the day, 25 years ago we walked down the isle. We bucked tradition and we did it our way. We had our pictures done before the wedding and we showed up early at the reception to enjoy more time with our guests. Do you remember when we arrived, the DJ wasn’t there yet? While we weren’t concerned, others were. Then it became a concern, when really, it wasn’t that big of a deal. They showed up with plenty of time, as per their usual procedure. Just a couple hours in, it was our first quandary in our marriage. The rest of the night went off without a hitch. Our honeymoon to Australia, was the most incredible trip of our lives. A memory of a lifetime…that we were beginning together.

Today is the day and here we are 25 years later, with our family of 3 children and a trajectory that neither of us could have predicted. There have been trials and tribulations along the way. Many trials have presented themselves to us on our 25 year journey. Too many to list. Many of them really difficult. Who wants to spend time reflecting on that? Let’s just summarize all that, as opportunity for growth that we took together!

Today is the day, That I get to tell you I love you one more time. Today is the day, I get to celebrate with you, that we have been together for 25 years. (Really 29) Today is the day, that I get to thank you, once again for your love and support through the years. Today is the day, I get to tell you again. You have been my Rock on this journey together.

I am grateful for what we have been given by our God on our journey. First, each other. So that we could Do Life together… as a TEAM. While God was always part of our being, I recall the moment in our marriage where the shift of this world, became a shift towards a focus on Jesus. And we have built upon that foundation. The Fruit is the evidence. Not our house, Not our property, Not our belongings. Not our jobs. Not our money. The Fruit is Our Love. The Love of Our Family. The Fruit is why we are proud of our children and who they are and who they have become and the potential for their future, as God’s Warriors.

Today is the day, we reflect on our love. Love for each other that got us through, together. Love that we enjoyed together, as we grew our family and did the best with each situation that presented itself.

Love is the Joy we have Celebrated for 25 years.

Today is the day. Today, 25 years ago we got married. It may not have gone like we thought. I do know this: We have done the work, and through our love for each other, God has provided: The Marriage You Want.

Today is the day, I get to tell you AGAIN, I LOVE YOU GRACE.
