Bible Summary in 30 Seconds – Short Form – Tell It Tuesday.

In my New Year’s night stand clean out adventure, I found a treasure trove of important resources and sentimental notes that have been given to me, or written by me or others. I shared one of them as the final FUN FRIDAYS! post of 2025. Click the link to read here: Fun Fridays! I Drove by Your House…

This find was totally top shelf. Like, nice flowers!

Back in 2012, I wanted to learn the bible. I really wanted to know it. However, I had tried to read the bible way back in 2003 and I think it lasted about 3 months. It was a read the Bible in a year plan. The plan bounced around a bit, such as having me read a chapter from the Old Testament and then switching to the New Testament. I am quite sure that if I looked back, the readings were connected but I was too naive to recognize. Where did I stop? Leviticus. First off, it lacks story. Second, reading all those rules and laws is boring. I became just like many Christians, who say: “I can’t read the Bible. It’s confusing and I don’t understand it.” I set the Bible down and it would be many years until I picked it up again to read it.

9 years later, I was working together with a guy named Jerry as we healed together from our past. Jerry knows the Bible. So, I would engage him in conversation on the Bible. I figured, if I can’t read the bible, I may as well get it through interview. Pretty slick eh? Well, not so much, but hey! Here is what Jerry gave me that Christmas. Jerry sent me a card with a Biblical summary. Without further ado I give you Jerry:

My hope for you in this post, is that if you already know the Bible, you recognize this summary and it correlates. I also hope, that if you are just like me and find the Bible too hard to read, or confusing, that this ignites your inner desire to give reading the Bible another chance. If I am honest about myself, it all came down to being too lazy and wanting someone else to do the work for me. Jerry shared what he could to plant the seed. I picked up the Bible for real, 5 years later.

If you are looking for a good place to start reading the Bible, Pastor Link suggested I started in Proverbs or Psalms. Proverbs has 31 chapters and you can read them in one month. Or you can read the Psalms in about 5 months, if you read one chapter a day. The safest place for me to start was Proverbs 1. A one month commitment was easier to commit to and the very first Words validated me and pulled me in.

2 Timothy 3: 15-17

15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
