
I promise. I didn’t abandon you. I just got off track the week of Memorial Day with the short week. I didn’t forget about Read the Bible Summary, I just lost track of the days of the week! That Friday I really wanted to do my FUN FRIDAYS! Post and so I figured I would just pick it up the next week… and then? I did it again.
Here we are at Prophets Hope. The message is, God’s people experienced judgement for their sins Yet, God never abandoned His covenant promises. The Prophets REPEATEDLY remind Israel:
Hope doesn’t come from circumstance. Hope comes from FAITH in God.

Prophets Hope
The Prophet Isaih addressed the Kingdom of Judah for 40 years! As with all Prophets, his message of Hope is based on the deep covenant bond between God and the people of Israel.
For reference, there are Major Prophets and Minor Prophets. Major and Minor Prophets are considered by the length of their written Books, not their spiritual significance or importance.

Hope Centers on the coming of a Messiah
As Isaiah speaks BIG words of hope, he provides direct insight to the coming of the Messiah.
Isaiah 9:6 NIV
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
God’s Hope is given in a new Covenant
Jeremiah 31:33 NIV
“This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel
after that time,” declares the Lord.
“I will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
Hope is rooted in God’s Character
Lamentations 3:23 NIV
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
God promises a new heart
Ezekiel 36:26 NIV
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
God’s Kingdom will ultimately TRIUMPH.
Isaiah 11:9 NIV
They will neither harm nor destroy
on all my holy mountain,
for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord
as the waters cover the sea.
Zechariah 14:9
The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name.

The prophets repeatedly announce that Israel’s sin will bring judgment, but God’s covenant faithfulness will ultimately bring restoration through the coming Messiah and His Kingdom. That theme ties together everything from Isaiah through Malachi.
