Meet Lilly. She is a very important person. Lilly was the first black woman to be allowed into a ball dance (with the man who became her husband) at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington VA. She was also the first black woman to be allowed to attend a nursing school nearby Lexington Virginia. (I can not find my notes on the exact location). This is me with Lilly and a letter I wrote her.
This is my hope for equality for ALL. I am grateful that Lilly shared her story with me.
