Water has an Impact – Short Stories

Trust me when I tell you, I know the impact of water.  I GOT THAT!  Just read my Story right here: A Miraculous Encounter on the River

Here is my approach when considering the importance and understanding of the impact of water.  Never underestimate the power of water. Regardless of my accident, I still love water and boating. I can  tell you many stories about the impact of water. I will just tell you one since this is a short story:

The first time I recall understanding the power of water, I was 12-14 years of age tops. I ALWAYS LOVED BASEBALL AS A KID. The problem we had, was that we lived next to a fairly busy road. So, we made up a rule that any hit towards “left field” was an automatic out. However, it didn’t stop the ball from going there. Sometimes, you were just glad you connected with the ball rather than getting the placement of the ball. The ball would end up in the drainage ditch quite often. AND? The ball would often roll into the drainage pipe. Sometimes, It would be close enough to just grab it. Sometimes it would roll deep, and I would have to lay down and reach with everything I had to get it. Other times-gone. We often lost our ball to the drainage ditch. Then I figured out where the drainage ditch came out. The exit of the ditch was 2 roads and an entire neighborhood over, where it drained into a field. I found one of my balls there one time, but the rest of them were always just lost for good.

I got smart – or so I thought. I figured a new way. I would put aboard over the drainage hole so we would stop losing our balls. (Here we are talking about balls again LOL – oh I miss my friend). Read about that here: I would like to Thank my Sponsor). Then the rain came, and the neighbor called to tell me the drainage ditch was full of water. I went out to see what was going on, and sure enough it was full!  After I gave it some thought, I realized that my board was still covering the drainage pipe. Well, I will just remove it, I thought. That is when I learned about the power of water. When I went to remove the board from the drainage pipe, it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be.  So, I had to add in extra effort.  Once I got the board to move – can you say “holy crap” I could feel the power?  The suction force the water had as it drained from the ditch into the pipe was incredible. I realized that instead of trying to pull the wood completely away from the concrete wall holding the pipe, I could slide it slightly to the right or left. Then, I just had to wait until the ditch drained enough for me to safely remove the wood.

Although I recognized the power of water, it didn’t completely scare me. I just became more careful with it. I have had a many experiences with the dangers of waters since then.  Regardless:

We do need to protect ourselves, especially when we are at the POOL! If you’re not going to protect yourself while you are at the pool, then you may as well just go inside and play pool!

Water is Life! I love water. Water is actually a topic I have been thinking-about writing more on.

Think about the impact of water in a baptism. We are given NEW LIFE! We can now have a conversation with God and understand the responses that are being given.
