This past March I hit the scale. I had been periodically watching my weight over the years, but this time was different. Now, I didn’t and don’t consider myself fat, but when I stepped on the scale this time, that feeling of dread was enough to cause me to take action.
A couple years ago I had been spending time with a colleague who was on a rest of life, no carb diet. I had taken to his diet habits to some degree while traveling with him. I shed a few pounds that year, but then Thanksgiving came, and then Christmas. The little weight I had lost, was quickly gone.
I knew what I had to do. In 4 short months, I lost 30 pounds. Now, my diet is not no carb, but it is a reasonable permanent plan of lower carb, and smaller portions. AND yes! I still eat chocolate, ice cream, and carb filled foods. It is just in a reduced quantity and frequency. Reasonable.
Let me tell you when I say I feel great. When I think about 30 pounds, that is a lot of weight.
Weight
Jesus is the weight. He is the HEAVY WEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD! I have been in discussions in various places with different people about principles, doctrines, values, philosophies, ethics, moralities, and beliefs.
We need to remember that we need to let go of our desires and use the weight of Jesus as our voice of reason:
Jesus is first.
Jesus is Love.
Jesus and Love are first.
Jesus is the weight.
When we are talking about principles, doctrines, values, philosophies, ethics, moralities, and beliefs, Jesus is the weight.

Weight!
