Did you ever have someone share something with you straight up and you totally understood what they were saying? And then later you somehow came to a different conclusion of what that person really meant – because you just didn’t think it was plausible – only to find out that your original understanding was correct? Let me explain.
On a recent journey to Grand Cayman Island, my wife and I decided to go see the Lighthouse on the Eastside of the Island. It was our own designed self guided “excursion”. We asked all the right questions. How do we get there? What is it like? Can you climb the stairs at the Lighthouse? We even found information that indicated it was called Lighthouse Park. We got all the answers we needed but they didn’t mean the same thing to us as it did to the people of Grand Cayman. Therefore, when we got to the lighthouse, it was very different than we expected.

When we got to the top of the stairs all we could do was laugh at the lighthouse. It was a lot of effort for not quite the return we expected.

It certainly wasn’t a wasted trip. The original light house is still standing right next to it, and lots of history to read on various plaques that were in an area more like a bird sanctuary. Then we got to learn about the locals a bit more from the rest of our journey. It was actually a jam up time!
Here is the point. When we went to the next island, we went on a pre-arranged trip that never even mentioned a lighthouse in the description. You know what we got?

I misgauged. I understand!
