Tell It Tuesday – Judging The Fruit

This is the Noni Fruit. I encountered it during a trip to Grand Cayman Island. When I first saw it, I knew it was some sort of fruit. My instinct was to want to pick it and investigate it. I was curious. However, I was in an unfamiliar place. What if it was poisonous? I took pictures and let it be alone.

Upon further investigation, I discovered this to be the noni fruit – or also known as vomit fruit. YEP. There are other names for this fruit pending what country it is growing in. I also discovered that the root of this fruit is Southeast Asia and Australia but was spread by Polynesian sailors.

If you were to eat this fruit it is quite bitter and not very friendly. From that perspective, it is bad fruit. However, it is high in potassium, vitamin C and vitamin A and has been used by Polynesians as medicine for thousands of years.

Science does not give much support for the use of this fruit and uses the words “may” when describing its benefits.

Personally, after learning more about it – I would classify this fruit as a supplement source that you might find in a health food store.

What do you think? Is this bad fruit or Good fruit?
