OUR HOUSE

There is a saying taken from the reading known as “A Vision for You” from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous that goes like this:

The answers will come if your own house is in order. But obviously you cannot transmit something you haven’t got.

Besides the fact that when we read this, I always have an internal argument about the incorrect use of the English language “haven’t got”, this message hits home.

Maybe Home is a better word than House.

Our House is our Home. In our Home, there are many amenities that make us comfortable. We have a stupid FUN fact about our house. We have 47 doors in our house. Our House is not that big, but it is a generous space. It just so happens that the way it was created and the additions we have added on, has created many Doors. We are the House of Doors.

There are 3-6 doors to get into our House depending on how you look at it. The garage is the flex part of the 3-6. Generally speaking, we have 3 Doors to get into our House. When you open the Door to our House, the security chime is what you hear if you come in the 2 doors closest to the system. Unfortunately, we were forced to take protective measures after a potential break in, while we were on vacation many years ago. By the Grace of God, He protected our Home while we were gone.

Once in the House, there is a normal sense of organization with the evidence that 5 people live here. Keeping organized is challenging when 5 people live together, especially with kids! Besides Doors, you will find signs of His Word – around the House.

I went on a tour of our House this morning to gather the evidence of His Word in our House.

• Living room #1: Love One Another – Jesus
• Kitchen: Bless the Food Before Us, the Family besides us, and the Love between us. Amen. The Lord’s Prayer, The Footprints of God poem, Numbers 6:24-26 May the Lord Bless you and Keep you
• Living room #2: LIVE LOVE LAKE – Grace
• My Bedroom: Jesus, God Loves Me and Celebrate are just a few words that pop out.
• Office: Love is the theme – Grace is present
• Basement: It is Well with my Soul – Grace, Love
• Mud Room: Family, please & thank you, Love one another, lots of hugs and kisses, be kind, happy honest, play nice, work hard, laugh often, DREAM BIG, Share, Enjoy today

Before I recorded all the evidence, my thoughts were to write about the Love in Our House. Love, is what I am hopeful that especially my family feels in our House. Of course, I want others who enter to feel that same Love.

A House is a structure. A Home is the demonstration of your Heart.

God has provided us a House. We have made it our Home. In our Home is Peace, Joy and Love. Yes, sometimes it’s a mess. Sometimes, Peace, Joy and Love get disrupted. However. Our Home is God’s House that we teach our children by example, how-to live-in Harmony with Him.

PEACE JOY LOVE.

The Lord bless you
    and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
    and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you
    and give you peace.

    I absolutely love this post! We often don’t realize our homes are out of order because we get used to the disarray. Now – the doors. Seriously??? When one door closes another door opens!
