The last time I was at the beach, as I was double checking to make sure we didn’t leave anything behind, I ran across a book called, Women in Science by Rachel Ignotofsky. Since we know the owner of where we stay, I decided it would be ok to borrow the book and get it back to her either in person, or on our next trip. I left it by the front door so I wouldn’t forget it. I promptly forgot it.
This week we lost an impactful woman.
A woman Pioneer.
An Activist for Chimpanzees.
An Advocate for animal Welfare.
An Advocate for Human Rights.
An Advocate for Conservation.
A woman of Strength.
A woman with a Big Heart.
A woman of Perseverance.
A woman of Hope.
While Jane Goodall’s journey has been celebrated for many years, she was met with conflict over some of her methods. Her story is not known for being subjugated by men. Her story is not like Barbara McClintock, who’s pants where all the rage. Her story is not like Lisa Meitner, who did her radiology experiments in the basement, because she was not allowed to enter the university building due to her gender. Her Story is not like Alison Froese, who was unable to practice medicine in an “all male field”, and went on to be part of the development of high-frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFO) for saving premature babies. Her Story is not like Lilly, whom I met in a chance meeting.
Jane Goodall is not known for her religiosity. She was however, connected to nature, and understood through her research, the nature of the Spirit. Her testimony of her work which she did right up until she died, was full of Hope.
Full of Hope for animal Welfare.
Full of Hope for Human Rights.
Full of Hope for Conservation.
Full of Hope for a BETTER WORLD.

I hope you have a great FRIDAY and a FIRE! weekend.
