INVERSION

Why would someone accuse you of the exact opposite of what you stand for?

What if you stood for a principle such as equality for women, and someone accused you of the exact opposite? What if your work involved supporting equality for women, particularly in the church setting, and someone accused you of the exact harm that you were standing up for?

One of the most painful experiences is being accused of the very thing you’ve dedicated your life to opposing. It’s not disagreement – it’s a complete inversion of your convictions.

It’s a diversion

It’s an INVERSION

It is unjust, because instead of spending your time to continue to do the work for the principals you STAND UP 4, you end up spending time defending yourself for a position you never had.

You’re forced to explain:

“I don’t believe that.”

“No, I never said that.”

“Actually, I believe the opposite.”

Instead of discussing the real issue, you’re constantly correcting the false one.

It hurts.
It’s exhausting.

Isaiah 5:20 NIV

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

One of the enemy’s oldest strategies is inversion. Call good evil. Call evil good. Accuse the truthful of deception. Accuse the humble of pride. Accuse the servant of seeking power. If truth can be inverted, confusion follows.

But you know what?

Jesus did not chase every accusation

This is the version:

Sometimes Jesus answered.
Sometimes Jesus asked questions.
Sometimes Jesus remained silent.
Sometimes Jesus walked away.

This is the version we call FREEDOM.

We can’t convince the already convinced. We can’t provide truth and evidence to those who believe they already are the truth and evidence. We can’t change the hard hearted.

What we can do, is leave them be so we can be FREE!

We can stand up for those who have been hurt. We can help people who are seeking answers to their hurt. We can give them hope. We can educate those who want to learn. We can show the willing who are on the fence. We can show them the FREEDOM of Jesus defense!

Inversion is definitely an attempt.

The Jesus Version is the Freedom we are given that is never spent!
