The Kewl Monkey was originally created with the hope that a grandmother would one day be able to return to the zoo with her family as originally planned.
The Kewl Monkey Story is a fictional story based on two true stories. One story is about an anonymous grandmother being too sick to go to the zoo with her family, and the other story is about one of my family members named Nena who battled leukemia.
The Kewl Monkey is just like Hope For Nena. Hope For Nena is a movement generated by my cousins in the name of their mother, Carol, who as a grandmother went by the nickname Nena. Carol had leukemia and, in her final years, battled this cancer. Along the way, her family and friends rallied behind her as she fought cancer with the hope of extending her life. Carol’s life involved a struggle, but hope kept her strong and gave her the ability to be with and enjoy her family in her final years. In the end, cancer took both Carol and her husband Mel (my cousin) just months apart. Hope For Nena uses a butterfly as a symbol to represent hope. Hope For Nena still lives on.

The Kewl Monkey design is a variant that blends several concepts. The three primary concepts are the marmoset monkey (Featured Image), Moto Monkey (Moto Monkey was a concept being designed by my son at the time of the zoo story), and an internet concept search which yielded a surfing monkey having fun!

In my unwavering belief and deep conviction, I have eternal hope and confidence that the Kewl Monkey, just like Hope For Nena, will provide hope and fun for you and for all in your journey with Christ.
