FUN FRIDAYS! – GENERAL!

I know a lady who is a Lieutenant General in the Army.  For those of you who do not know what a Lieutenant General is here is the scope:

  • A Lieutenant General is a 3 Star General
  • A Lieutenant General is second in command of the Army
  • A Lieutenant General Oversees Corps-sized unit around 42,000 soldiers

My brother graduated from War College last week and is a Full Bird Colonel in the Army.  This is his 4th Masters degree.  My niece sent me pictures as I could not attend.  The pictures of my brother were quite sensational. They were fantastic photos!  In the photos, that my niece shared my brother is quite emotional as he is being recognized.  Honestly, I don’t recall witnessing those expressions on my brothers face more than once if at all in our lifetime.  Those pictures are best for private viewing only as they are quite personal. The best picture was of him receiving his diploma.  The picture pops like it is from a movie scene.  Here is my brother receiving his diploma:

I am super proud of my brother for his accomplishments. In addition to his Masters degrees, He is an Ordained Lutheran Minister, Army Chaplin with 25 years of Service, and well decorated from his many tours.

WAY TO GO LEW! I AM PROUD OF YOU AND PROUD TO BE YOUR BROTHER!

Back to those private pictures – While I won’t share them with you, I will describe them. The emotion runs deep. He has worked hard. Very hard. He has had failures in his life just like many of us. But he stood strong and endured the hard work. He has pain that no one can see that goes back all the way to his childhood with the loss of his father when he was just 10 years old. If His Dad could only see him now. Then there is death and destruction he witnessed during his Iraq Tours. PTSD is unshakable. But here he stands in GREAT HONOR of the United States Army. Being honored for his service and hard work. The emotions run DEEP. ALL he can do is THANK GOD and be STRONG. He is the highest ranking official in the Army that I know. I can’t imagine all he has been through and the emotion he feels and what this means to him.

But Wait Phil – Didn’t you say you know a woman who was a Lieutenant General in the Army? I DO! However, she is not in the United States Army. She is in GOD’S ARMY. And she helped build it. I can not even begin to understand what an honor it must be to lead a Corp of God’s soldiers of 42,000 people. Imagine this? 42,000 people and you are leading them. If my brother was emotional at his graduation from War College as a Full Bird Colonel who only overseas a couple thousand US Army Soldiers at most, what must it feel like to oversea 42,000 and you helped build it? God GAVE you the reigns. WOW! I cant begin to conceptualize how important that job is. Leading God’s Army? WHAT AN HONOR! And you know what? That Army is about to get BIGGER. You know what that means for my lady friend don’t you?
