What do you know about Spiritual matters? This can be a lonely place if you are not connected to God’s Word and have the Support Community to help you. This has been my experience.
It seems there are many people out there who have the experience and knowledge to help you find the Spiritual World. They are there! However, our own personal growth may limit their impact.
I read this article recently about how some folks who are claimed leaders have two categories for believers. The categories are: Saved People and Disciples. The writer called these preachers false-grace preachers. I really liked this term.
Have you already been saved? What does this mean? Does this just simply mean you met Jesus and you are now a believer and if you go to church on Sundays and listen to the message you are good to go until you meet God? Faith without works is dead!
James 2:26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
Jesus does call us to be disciples! It is not just come to believe. It is also, come to spread the Word!
John 13:34-35
34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
We are called to spread the word. This is not optional.
The writer goes on to give another very interesting perspective. American Jesus verses Biblical Jesus. Do we all know who American Jesus is? My gosh – this is the Jesus that says come to church and believe in me and then go home and do life until next Sunday.
1 John 2:3-6
3 We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands. 4 Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. 5 But if anyone obeys his word, love for God[a] is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: 6 Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.
Jesus Challenged new believers if they were truly His disciples.
John 8:31-32
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Set free from what? Sin! WE MUST OBEY.
