What is your dream? Of course, we all have had some dreams while sleeping. However, I am talking about your waking dreams. What is it that you daydream about? What is it that you sit and think about/dream and or just wish for?
I hope it’s not all just stuff…
But I am guilty too. I have a dream. The dream is to get up in the morning, get my coffee (coffee is important) walk down to my dock, get in my boat and go fishing as often as I want. That’s the dream. In that dream is a lot of stuff. I am talking physical stuff here. There are a lot of moving pieces and parts to get to get to the dream. Thankfully my dream is reasonably attainable, with proper planning and hard work to be able to provide financially long-term for the dream to not only come true, but for it to be substantiable.
But wait Phil you said, “I hope it’s not stuff…” and look at your dream. It’s full of self and stuff. And it is! However, when you look inside my dream there is more.
There is More for others in the Spirit of the Vision:
Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
- LOVE – Our house will be filled with LOVE that we can share with others. Love is welcoming, Love is educating, Love is helping, Love is guiding, Love is caring, Love is providing, Love is giving, Love is Jesus.
- The Vision in the dream is to provide joy to others. Most of all I see fishing as a form of joy for myself and others, but there will be so many other opportunities within the dream setting to experience joy!
- The Vision includes the idea of Peace. Peace for me, Peace for my wife, and Peace for those who we meet and chose to join us in partaking of our dream.
- I Vision our family and friends coming there one day with their families to visit us on vacation and holidays. Imagine all the opportunities for ALL to practice forbearance/patience!
- Our home would be a place of kindness, where we will give others the opportunity to pick the Fruit and take in the Gifts from God and give it to others.
- I see giving to others in in our dream. Others, who we just want to be with and give too. Others, who may not be able be able to provide a space that makes up dreams. Others who may never get to experience such a dream, Or maybe it inspires those who visit, to one day create the same vision for others as they witnessed as part of our vision. Wouldn’t it be awesome to give the goodness to everyone where they are free to pick the Fruit for themselves as it inspires them to give Fruit to others?
- Continued Faith and demonstration of the Faith to others remembering who provided the dream being of the utmost importance. Who provided the vision? God provided the outcome of the Vision through Faithfulness and heart-filled-hard-work.
- Gentleness will go hand in hand as we continue to let go of self and give to others. Go back to #2! Imagine all the opportunities to practice this as while the joy is overflowing.
- Self-Control – Do I need to say anymore? This might be the one I need to write about the most. Maybe less is more in this case! We must use self-control to be in the other eight!
This is our litmus test of our dream. It is in the Fruit. The Fruit must include ALL of these for it to be good Fruit!

Does your Dream Include the Fruit?
