Have you ever tried to share God with someone, and they just give you a blank stare like they don’t know what to say? Have you ever tried to share God with someone, and they respond in a way that indicates they are uncomfortable?
Often, when I am doing my job in my sales world, I go fishing for God. I will throw something out that leads the person I am talking to, know that I want to talk about God. Sometimes I get super warm responses, other times the person has no clue. When I get those warm responses it’s on like Donkey Kong! We talk God. There are those times also, were the person’s response is somewhere in between. This is where I PAY ATTENETION! I am intentional in looking for any sign that God is present. I want to be with Him, and I want to share Him with others. If there is any indication, I can proceed in talking about God, I certainly will take that op!
I often struggle with sharing God with others. Not because I am afraid of sharing God with them, but rather their lack of reception to receiving Him. They just don’t get it! They just don’t understand. They are blind. I get so befuddled when this happens. When I am trying to share God with someone else and they don’t get it, it makes me sad. It truly confuses me. And it really disappoints me.
Here is a fishing-tip I need to follow:
One of the best fishing moments a fisherman can have is arriving at his fishing spot, throwing out that first cast and landing a fish. This is a rare moment and does not happen that often. If you do not land that fish on the first cast does this mean, there are no fish in the lake? Does this mean there will never be any fish in to catch? Of course, when you do catch a fish in any given spot, it is marked in your memory and a good fisherman will return to that spot every time. However, if you don’t catch a fish in that spot the first time, a good fisherman will fish the whole body of water and keep fishing! A good fisherman will return and never give up. Sometimes it takes several trips to figure it out.
One of the mysteries of God is, YOU never know when He is going to show YOU His presence. For me, if I am spiritually fit and connected in my current space, His presents (yes, I spelled it that way on purpose) can show up at any given moment and have grand impact.
Any event can have the potential to have a God filled moment-if you are spiritually fit.
Experiencing God is a deeply personal experience. It is intimacy at its core. God already knows you, but he wants you to know that he knows you. He wants a relationship with you, and He wants to give you love. He wants you to love Him back. He wants YOU to KNOW HIM.
Many of us might think, well since this is such a deep personal event, it should only be shared with the closest person in your life. For me that is my wife. Sharing God with your spouse is the deepest of deepest intimacy you can experience here on this earth. It can even cause sexual arousal due to the nature of your vulnerability. This is God speaking to you personally and you are sharing deep intimacy with God with your wife almost directly from God to her. It can be intense. This is of course, is part of God’s wonderful plan for creation and UNITY. While I certainly do my best to share my experience(s) of God with my wife, that is not always the first place this happens. Nor, is it the only place I choose to share my experiences.
For example, I share my experiences here at Give Your Story as a method of demonstration with GREAT HOPE that YOU TOO will SEE HIM. I hope that what I share, stirs in you, HIS PRESENCE. That is my hope, when I share my personal experiences of God with you.
Peace and Joy are my favorite God moments to share with others. I for ONE, am certainly not uncomfortable when I share God with others.
AND, I AM CERTAINLY NOT UNCOMFORTABLE WHEN OTHERS SHARE GOD WITH ME.
