The Resurrection of the Body? – Short Stories

Here it comes. It is on the move. It is coming from every direction. It joins together in a giant maze. It starts with you. It’s the body. Then it goes. It won’t stop until it is too low. Then it has to be forced up in order to go again. It’s murky. It’s dank. It’s smelly, It’s gross. There is not much life in it and the life it has, is not good for the body. In fact, it will make the body sick. Everything you don’t want is all together rushing to that place. Miles and miles – hundreds of miles it goes. It is RAW. As it approaches its destination it is coarsely separated. Then it all falls together into one body. The flow continues and the grit and dirt fall away, and it is fizzy. It never stops moving. The previous body has already proceeded and some of it returns to join the PRIMARY body to help give it life. The PRIMARY body needs air to help it break down. The RETURN body helps also with this progression. Life is building and bugs are circulating all throughout it. They are hungry and they want what’s in the body. You can’t feed it too much and you can’t underfeed it either. The bugs need to be healthy and happy in order for this to work. Believe it or not, the body is being cleansed. The bugs are doing the work. Although it does look different, it doesn’t look like it is being cleansed. And it certainly doesn’t smell like it! Butt, it is! Even in this stage, the body is being cleansed. The body has been through a lot already and it is not even halfway. The body is still on the move. It will never stop. The next stop is the SECONDARY. This is where the body begins to shed. The body becomes two. The body moves through the clarifier and the solid body separates from the liquid body. The crazy part about the clarifier? The solids clean the liquid. A “bed” is created in the clarifier. It can be anywhere around 3-8 feet deep-typical. As the solids and liquids separate, the liquids journey is through the bed of suspended solids. The suspended solids act as a “filter” to the liquid. The body is still working together, even though it is separated. The result? Clear water pouring over the weirs of the clarifier. The UNDERFLOW of solids that is always gaining in the clarifier but maintaining its bed, are guided back to the PRIMARY where it goes through the journey again. Still, other places in the process, solids are overwhelming the system. (there are good and bad solids changing phases and being separated and redirected over and over and over again) and the no longer useful, being removed for their final resting place. Sometimes the solids end up in the landfill. Hopefully it is recycled into another life. Life, such as directly applied as fertilizer or further processed to make compost. What happened to the water? It is still flowing. It will never stop. As it leaves the clarifier, it heads for the FINISHING stage. Here in the CONTACT chamber it is disinfected and filtered before it heads to another body. That body will one day return.

This process sounds familiar doesn’t it?  Could it be the Resurrection of the Body? I certainly think it could apply.

This is the wastewater process. It’s Science.

Water! It’s life – Even Wastewater.
