I own exactly two newspapers. The first one is dated Friday June 20, 1975. The second one is dated June 23, 1975. The original owner of these newspapers some how new they were holding onto history.

About 5 years ago, I had lost my job and I ended up working a gap job at at a farm venue primarily known for their haunted house that has a 36 year history. My job function was as a carpenter. We built all kinds of structures and items to support the venue. One of the projects I had been given, was to put in hidden shelves in old chests, for the Pirates section of the haunted house. In one of the old chests, were these two old newspapers from 1975. I figured whoever had saved them, had a purpose. So I brought them home to investigate. Sure enough, I was correct. Little did I realize, the significance of my find.

My Big Find?

Friday June 20, 1975 was opening day of JAWS the movie.

Monday June 23, 1975 was the review of JAWS the movie.

JAWS is celebrating 50 years this year. Obviously, the official celebration date was a couple months ago on June 20, 2025. However, the re-release with digital enhancement on the big screen, is August 29, 2025. My Birthday.

In celebration of my birthday, I will be sending these two newspapers to my Big Brother Big Sister Program “little brother” Troy, who I met 22 years ago. Troy’s all time favorite movie is JAWS. In addition, me and my family will be going to see JAWS.

One note: In the add for JAWS, It says. ” She was the First…”

I had a bit of a challenge last weekend into early this week. A minor bipolar disruption to my thinking abilities and well…I have not had much appetite for people’s crap… let alone a shark. Here is what I am thinking instead:

SHE IS FIRST. That is what we should be doing.

So this weekend, Guys – how about treat her well and put her first?
