Moral Agency – God given ability to make freedom choices between right and wrong, with real consequences tied to those choices.
1. Purpose
We were created with good Purpose:
Genesis 1:31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.
2. Desires
Our Desires are God given:
Psalm 37:4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
3. Design
God’s Design leads towards a thriving life of growth and flourishing. There is an intention for human behavior to produce Good Fruit:
Deuteronomy 30:19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses
against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now
choose life, so that you and your children may live
4. Choices
Malaligned Choices look like:
James 1:14-15 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by
their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it
gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
Galatians 5:17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the
Spirit what is contrary to the flesh.
Freedom Misused looks like:
Romans 6:16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone
as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are
slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to
Righteousness?
5. Real Consequences
Bad Fruit is following unchecked desire and using power to cover sin:
2 Samuel 11:Summary – But the thing David had done displeased the Lord.
Good Fruit speaks for its self:
Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test
and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows
from it.
CORE TRUTH
When it comes to Moral Agency, The Heart Matters.
Your life is not random.
Your fruit is not accidental.
God designed your desires for life.
The transformation of your heart – through the freedom choices you make – determines whether your life becomes:
🌱 Good Fruit
or
🌳 A lifeless tree
You have freedom to choose! Your choices REVEAL whether you have chosen Moral Agency and are living within God’s design, or have chosen to not to follow God’s design and are actively working against it.
