Billy Idol should be Dead.

Billy Idol should be Dead is the name of the Documentary about Billy Idol. Why should he be dead? The guy led a drug fueled, insane lifestyle that nearly killed him. It is unfortunately, a common theme in the Music and Hollywood scene. In reality, this story is quite common in the common world too! The difference? Famous musicians and famous actors have a public life. Or in other words, we get to witness their strife. The other difference is, they happen to have a LOT OF MONEY.

There is this thinking. I can’t say everyone has the same thinking about this. Famous people put their pants on the same way we do. But either way, you can’t help but wonder?

HOW YOU CAN THROW AWAY “A life that appears to offer everything?”

That’s the theme that we see over and over again. Musician/Actor/Person gets famous, lots of money comes their way, and they live a life of luxury, drugs and destruction until they almost die… or they actually die. The MONEY magnifies this factor. Billy Idol is still alive. He is 70 years old.

My wife and youngest son and I watched the documentary together. Well, my youngest watched the beginning and the end. He didn’t miss much. The middle part of the story was just Billy Idol doing massive amounts of drugs and DEFILING the people around him.

In the end, Billy Idol took a turn for the better. He got off heroin and cleaned up his act. Today, he calls himself “California Sober”. This is a debate for another day. Here is the summation of what California Sober means:

When you read between the lines, Billy most likely occasionally consumes less hard core drugs such as marijania and he openly admits to occasionally drinking some wine.

But that factor isn’t so much the point in all this.

My son watched the first 45 minutes or so and then left the room. He returned to the room during the last 15-20 minutes of the movie. When it was all over, I made this statement:

THAT WAS STEEP PRICE TO PAY.

My son needed some explanation on that statement. The Documentary is 2 hours long. It’s a story about AN ENTIRE LIFETIME of fame, money, drugs and destruction. Just! the last 10-12 mins of the movie is about what really matters. Billy Idol finally came to the conclusion that ends with GRATITUDE. He speaks about WHAT REALLY MATTERS… He states:

“ I think part of life is about LOVE.” I think an even bigger part of life is what you do with that LOVE.” – Billy Idol

I hear you Billy! It’s quite sad that it took most of his life to understand this. However, I applaud him for finding his INNER SELF WORTH.

LOVE.

My story is not much different. It took me until the age of 25 to find love. I was already 18 years into my addiction. It would take another 5 years to truly find LOVE. There was a price that I paid. By the Grace of God, at the age of 30, I would begin my journey with LOVE, seeking a path towards CHRIST. At that time, 30 years of age was relatively young in sex addiction recovery. For many years, I was one of the youngest attendees in my 12-Step group. Today, we see much younger people arrive much sooner. But that old guy in his 60’s still shows up once in a while to tell his story of AN ENTIRE LIFETIME of destructive addiction. And most often, that guy doesn’t stick around anyway. They go back out to pay their price.

Yes, sometimes we pay the price. I certainly did. Here is the good news!

YOU DON’T HAVE TO!

Jesus paid the price for you!

YOU CAN STOP THE MADNESS NOW!

Jesus LOVES YOU. This is Unconditional LOVE! There is not one sin that can’t be overcome by the blood of Jesus! He will LOVE YOU NO MATTER WHAT! However, there is some work that you must do, before you can collect the benefits of that LOVE. WE MUST OBEY. We must take that simple, yet such difficult action of surrender. It’s not natural. We like to look good. When you live the omen, it takes an explosion. We must be crushed! Surrender is a MUST! And then? The LOVE OF JESUS will pick you up from there.

What’s Your Price?

You don’t need one!

Jesus paid the Price was God’s plan FOR US to redeem broken humanness Himself.
