There is no Bible without the story of Jesus. I know we just jumped off from the Old Testament to the New Testament, but it’s ok to look back. There is no shame! God loves us. That is why he sent His son for us. So we are going to look back a little bit and then connect Jesus from the Old Testament to the New Testament.

In the Old Testament, Jesus is present. He is foreshadowed from the very beginning of the bible in Genesis 3:15 – The coming offspring of a woman will defeat the serpent. There are references to Jesus all over the Old Testament. Long before we even get to Bethlehem, God had a rescue plan. That is the story that we in the Old Testament. The New Testament tells us the story of the Fulfillment of God’s plan – in the flesh – humbly – a baby – Baby Savior – Jesus.
Old Testament
Isaiah 7:14 – the virgin will conceive and bear a son called Immanuel
Isaiah 9:6–7 – “For to us a child is born…”; the promised ruler and Prince of Peace
Micah 5:2 – the Messiah would come from Bethlehem
New Testament
Luke 1:26–38 – the angel Gabriel tells Mary she will bear Jesus
Matthew 1:18–25 – Joseph is told in a dream that the child is from the Holy Spirit
Luke 2:1–7 – Jesus is born in Bethlehem
Luke 2:8–20 – the shepherds are told the Savior has been born
Matthew 2:1–12 – the wise men come to worship the child King
Baby Savior is the moment God’s rescue plan takes on flesh. The promised Messiah is born as a baby, just as the prophets foretold. He is Jesus, fully God and fully man. He comes not in earthly power, but in humility, born in Bethlehem to Mary, laid in a manger, and announced first to shepherds. This child is not just a baby. He is the Savior, the one Called Immanuel – God is with us – sent to rescue His people from sin and fulfill God’s promise of redemption.
He is the One!
