I believe God has wired EVERYONE with a conscience that points towards Him – THE TRUTH.
I believe that people know more truth than they are willing to admit, and sin teaches us how to evade the truth.
Can you make the truth disappear? Will the truth ever go away?
A few weeks ago I was scrolling through my facebook feed and I got pulled into clickbate. The story line that pulled me in was about Kurt Russel walking off the Jimmy Fallon Show. Outside of that story, the only place I could find this information was a YouTube video with NO EVIDENCE. It was just pictures of Kurt Russel from his appearance with Jimmy Fallon on the show, with a narration of what seemingly happened. The story seemed to have several twists. Goldie Hahn was also there and left. And in addition, Kurt didn’t walk off the set, Jimmy kicked him off. It took me a little bit to come to the conclusion that the story was not the truth. There was even an interesting “quote” supposedly from Kurt Russel. This is the line that kept me interested in finding the truth about the story:
Truth Doesn’t Disappear because people are uncomfortable hearing it.
Even in this fake story, lies the truth. Remember my post, Even the Truth can Come from a Liar? At this point, I don’t really know who to give the credit to on this quote. I just like it. Because it is the truth. That fake story made me think about something true: people can distort facts, invent narratives, and still never actually erase truth. And it feeds into my other questions.
Can you make the truth disappear?
Will truth ever go away?
John 17:17 NIV
Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
Just because the truth makes you uncomfortable, doesn’t mean if you reject it, it goes away. Just because the truth makes you uncomfortable, doesn’t mean that if you run from it, it just goes away. Just because the truth makes you uncomfortable, doesn’t mean you get to rewrite history so it fits a narrative that makes you comfortable.
Truth doesn’t disappear because people are uncomfortable hearing it. When God speaks the truth, people’s opinions, reactions, rejections, and resistance does not make it less true.
2 Timothy 4:2-4 NIV
2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
The rejection of truth does not weaken truth; it reveals the human tendency to prefer comfort over correction, affirmation over repentance, and narrative over reality.
Isaiah 40:8 NIV
The grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God endures forever.
Truth doesn’t disappear because people are uncomfortable hearing it. Truth may offend, convict, or cut before it heals, but our reaction to it does not determine its reality.
Whether we’re talking about a made-up internet story or the truth of God’s Word, the principle is the same: reality is not changed by denial. Lies can distort it, people can reject it, and culture can try to reframe it. The truth itself does not disappear.
The Truth of God Remains.
