Please Prayer for Wayne Update 7-28-24

Sunday 7-28-24. Hey ALL. No, Wayne is not buried and no I did not forget to post an update last week. I will say that the prayer for Wayne Update did get buried in all my other posts due to the string of activity I had going on. Also, because I know Wayne well enough, he would laugh at my buried joke even if you didn’t. You can read the full story of prayers for Wayne here: Please Pray for Wayne Update 7-14-24

Last week we ended our Sunday School class with a discussion about how we could bring church and or Sunday School to Shirley and even possibly Wayne. This week Shirley showed up with plans to only attend Sunday School and then sneak out so she wouldn’t be overwhelmed. However she even came to church!

I did have an update for you last week and it was about stability. I thought about posting that and keeping Wayne at least on my first 5 posts to keep it on the main page. What I came to realize is just because it was not right n front of us last week doesn’t mean it wasn’t important. It just means that God was caring for Wayne while we were tending to God’s work somewhere else. Trust me when I tell you I DID NOT FORGET.

Shirley’s update on Wayne is he still does have his infection but it is getting better. They are weening him off the ventilator and the intentions are to move him to long term critical care. He is still delirious in what I call have in the bag half out fo the bag cognitive thinking. On a serious note, Wayne has been close to death several times during this period. Shirley shared a sad story about trying to communicate with Wayne by reading lips and when she finally figureed it out Wayne wanted her to get his clothes so he could go home. She had to show him the inside of the closet and the bathroom to show him there were no clothes for him to go home in. He doesn’t even know why he is there in the hospital. Kewl news is that they were able to put. avoice box on his trach for a little bit for him to be able to speak. Wayne’s 93 year old father, who has been by his side for a majority of the time sleeping on a hospital chase lounge made the statement that it was the first time he heard Wayne’s voice in 3 months. Wayne has been hospitalized since May 9th a majority of it being in ICU. Anyway I closed out the sad story with a joke. I made the statement that atleast Shirley didn’t tell Wayne his clothes are in the front lawn at the house! It was mixed bag of celebration and sadness with a little laughter to heal. Wayne is on a long journey to recovery at this point. While it’s not the immediate answer we are looking for it is HOPE.
