I want to help you thrive. I want to help you take that mustard seed of Faith and grow it. If you already have Big Faith then I want to help you grow it into more!
What do you like to do in your spare time? My answer is fishing. I love to fish. I can’t envision fishing ever getting old. Even a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work. What does fishing do for me? It gives me peace.
We engage in things that bring joy and peace. In a more recent encounter, I had with a former stand-in television series actor, he said, “People watched our program because it was a space where people could go to forget about their life for a while.” It got them out of themselves for a time.
I believe it is important to have “me time”. I believe it is important to do things to get you out of self and this world – Things that are healthy that bring joy and peace. I believe that we should also spend intentional time with God. For some of us, it is possible we can do both. I can take a moment when I am fishing and see his creations and bring in the peace and quiet and pray while I am standing their waiting for the fish. I also choose to write in my spare/intentional time as a method of communication with Him.
This is not something that I feel like I should do, I do it because I can. I do it because I want to. I do it because he showed me how to Love and I want to show him how I Love him back. I get so much from writing and working on my relationship with Him.
How do you Thrive?
Take heed! Be on the lookout. Pay attention to things that are not of this world! Look out for it! Be intentional! Open your mind and open your heart to Him. Allow Him to use you in any way He wants for His purpose.
Help yourself and others. Besides Jesus, you are first! Caring for yourself is the first step to being able to find Faith. If you are not caring for yourself, the Faith you think you have is only faith in self. Caring for yourself is getting out of self! It is! When you care for yourself, your mind clears so that you can find Him! When you care for yourself your mind is now clear to lean on that Faith. When you lean on that Faith and your life is in order, you can now Help others. Helping others is the work of our Lord. Helping others takes us further out of ourselves and this world. Helping yourself and others will improve your relationship with Him!
Read the Bible. The purpose of the Bible is a history of the life of Jesus. The Bible shows us what to do and what not to do. AND yes, even the Old Testament is the story of Jesus. I started reading the Bible 8 years ago. The very first chapter and verses I read was Proverbs 1:1-6. It says in summary – Read the Bible and you will gain Wisdom, Instruction, Understanding, Insight, Knowledge and Guidance. The purpose of these passages is to help find a path to Prosperity, Health and Security – In Him!
Initiate a purposeful plan to keep God in front. Initiating a purposeful plan to keep God at the forefront of our lives involves intentional daily practices that feed our spiritual connection. This can include setting aside time for prayer and meditation, engaging with scripture, and surrounding ourselves with a supportive community. By incorporating regular reflections and acts of service, we create moments that remind us of our faith’s importance. This commitment helps us align our decisions with our values, ensuring that our thoughts and actions consistently reflect a desire to walk in His light.
Visualize your life with God. So often we get busy and the hamster wheel of life takes us away from our true purpose. This world requires us to participate. We get stuck in the rat race and forget about the most important things. Why am I doing this? What is the purpose? We need to be in Love while we are in this world. That is hard! Sometimes all we can do is keep moving and visualize being with God. All we can do is visualize Loving Him. Guess what? That vision is all God needs to know, that you are communicating with Him and that you Love Him.
Engage with Him! You can engage with God in so many ways. You can sit on your front porch and enjoy the rain and just talk to Him. You can play music and be passionate for Him. You can serve others in the name of the Lord. The list goes on. We must be purposeful and intentionally Engage in Loving our God.
Thrive.
