The Space of Truth, Heart & Character

Sometimes you just need your space. I have been experiencing technical difficulties with my laptop I use for Give Your Story. This should be no surprise, as my laptop is 10 years old. I have had issues with my laptop for quite some time now and I have been limping it along. First it was space. Then it was more or less space, depending on how you look at it. Then more errors due to space. Now, my laptop will not charge unless it is turned off. We are headed for deep six soon. I am working on a plan to rectify that.

To add to complications, in the mean time, I have been using another video generating software with the idea of possibly moving from one video platform to another. That has caused additional space issues. This week I had a video all planned ,but I am unable to edit it the way I want it.

So? Instead! Here is the Script!

Today, we’re going to talk about something that is at the very core of authentic Christian living: the alignment between our truth, our heart, and our character.

It’s not enough to know the truth.
It’s not even enough to feel the truth in your heart.
God desires that we live out the truth in our daily character and actions.

Let’s explore this through the lens of Scripture, and understand how truth, heart, and character must reflect the same.

Truth Must Dwell in the Heart

Let’s begin with this powerful verse:

Psalm 51:6 (ESV)
“Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.”

David is saying that God doesn’t just care about outward appearances. He desires truth in the inner being—deep in our hearts.

You see, truth isn’t just a fact you know; it’s a reality you live. And it starts by letting God’s truth transform your heart.

What’s in the Heart Flows into Character

What’s in your heart always shows up in your life.

Luke 6:45 (NIV)
“A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart… For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”

If truth lives in your heart, it will overflow into your words, choices, and behavior-that’s character.

But if your heart is filled with self-deception, pride, or compromise, your life will reflect that too.

You cannot have a heart full of truth and a life full of lies—the two are incompatible.

Integrity Is the Alignment of Truth, Heart, and Character

Proverbs 11:3 (NIV)
“The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.”

Integrity means wholeness—that your beliefs, values, and actions are consistent.

The opposite of integrity is duplicity—being one way on the inside, and another on the outside.

You might know the truth.
You might even love it in your heart.

But if your character is dishonest, cruel, or unreliable, then your life is fractured-not whole.

God calls us to integrity, where truth, heart, and character match.

Jesus Is Our Example

John 14:6 (NIV)
“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life.'”

Jesus didn’t just speak truth-He embodied it. Everything He did reflected what He believed and who He was.

His heart was full of compassion.
His truth was uncompromising.
His character was flawless.
He calls us to follow Him in that same alignment.

A Call to Real Alignment

So where are you today?
• Do you know the truth, but struggle to let it shape your heart?
• Do you feel convicted in your heart, but don’t live it out in your character?
• Or have you learned to act a certain way, but inside you know there’s a disconnect?

God wants to restore wholeness in us. That’s what sanctification is all about—bringing every part of us into alignment with His truth.

Let this be our prayer:

Psalm 139:23–24 (NIV)
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
May our truth, our heart, and our character reflect the same light—the light of Christ.
Amen.
